Oman and the United States are exploring avenues to enhance economic and investment collaboration, with an emphasis on broadening trade, bolstering Omani exports, and drawing American investments. This was a focal point during discussions between Oman’s Minister of Economy, Dr. Khamis Saif Al Jabri, and representatives from the Oman Trade Office in the United States during their visit to Oman.
The dialogue covered the accomplishments of the Oman Trade Office, its future strategies, and the hurdles and prospects for deepening economic connections between the two nations. A significant aspect of the discussions was increasing the accessibility of Omani products in the U.S. market and identifying new areas for trade cooperation.
The talks also highlighted the importance of attracting American investments to Oman. This is seen as a strategic move to foster economic growth and diversification for both countries. Bilateral trade between Oman and the United States had reached approximately OMR 555.26 million by the end of July 2026, underlining the substantial economic exchanges already in place.
Major Omani exports to the United States include chemicals and aluminium, showcasing the country’s capability in these industries. In contrast, the U.S. primarily exports vehicles and transport equipment to Oman, indicating a strong demand for these products in the Omani market.
The discussions underscore a mutual interest in strengthening economic ties and creating more robust trade pathways between Oman and the United States, setting the stage for potential growth in various sectors and increased bilateral trade in the future.
