Must read

The third edition of a youth training initiative in Oman has wrapped up, with a focus on technologies related to electric vehicles and the promotion of sustainable transportation solutions. Known as the “Electric Vehicle Experts” (EV-Pro) programme, it took place from July 19 through August 27, drawing participation from 35 young men and women studying at various universities and colleges throughout Oman.

The programme provided comprehensive training on a range of topics crucial to electric vehicle technology. Participants delved into areas such as charging infrastructure, network planning, and the maintenance and operations of electric vehicles. Additionally, the programme highlighted the economic advantages of electric vehicles and their potential role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Workshops were a key component of the training, directing attention to current environmental challenges and the principles of sustainability. Participants engaged with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and took part in activities aimed at crafting practical solutions tailored to meet local environmental needs.

This initiative is part of Oman’s larger strategy to encourage sustainable transportation and strive toward achieving carbon neutrality by the year 2050. By equipping young individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge, the programme aims to lay the groundwork for a future where sustainable transport plays a significant role in the country’s infrastructure.
