Anwar Gargash, a diplomatic adviser from the United Arab Emirates, has sharply criticized Iran’s strategy of targeting Gulf states and Jordan, labeling it ineffective. Gargash highlighted the unsustainable nature of the current “neither war nor peace” scenario and called for immediate measures to lower tensions. His remarks followed a recent escalation in hostilities between the United States and Iran, which saw renewed Iranian assaults on regional targets. On August 31, the UAE Ministry of Defence reported intercepting an Iranian drone over the nation’s territorial waters. The ministry also dismissed Iranian media claims that missiles had struck Al Minhad Air Base near Dubai, affirming that the facility maintains a heightened state of readiness.
Gargash stressed that any enduring resolution to the conflict must tackle both the political and economic fallout. He criticized an earlier memorandum of understanding for lacking a practical and acceptable roadmap to resolve the crisis.
