HAKONE, JAPAN – Japan’s luxury travel scene is set for a disruption in 2029 with the introduction of the Okura Resort Hakone Gora, the first domestic resort from Hotel Okura. This flagship property is being developed in partnership with Nishimatsu Construction following a 2025 agreement, strategically targeting the high-demand hot spring market of Hakone Gora, which sees nearly 20 million tourists annually.
The defining amenity of the resort is unprecedented for the region: all 58 guest rooms will feature a private outdoor hot spring bath supplied with genuine Owakudani thermal water.
The property’s aesthetic, a “Forest Hideaway” concept by designer Gwenael Nicolas, promises a blend of natural tranquility and modern elegance. Complementary facilities include saunas, expansive indoor bathing areas, a high-end teppanyaki restaurant, and a stylish bar lounge, designed to attract affluent domestic and international travelers seeking an elevated, exclusive experience.
