The visit, which spans two days, underscores the Sultanate’s commitment to strengthening ties with African nations, focusing on building a robust bilateral relationship with Botswana.
The Omani leader was greeted with full honors upon his arrival at Sir Seretse Khama International Airport in Gaborone, Botswana’s capital. President Duma Gideon Boko of Botswana personally received the Sultan, highlighting the importance of this state visit. The welcoming ceremony featured a 21-gun salute, symbolizing respect and recognition of the distinguished guest’s status.
Following the formalities at the airport, Sultan Haitham was met by senior officials from Botswana, along with members of the Omani delegation accompanying him. This interaction was a vital step in facilitating discussions aimed at exploring avenues for cooperation between the two nations.
